Karr
"I am the Knight Automated Roving Robot, K.A.R.R. if you prefer. I am the prototype of the car of the future."

"Correct, I am not a car. I am the Knight Automated Roving Robot. The first and a bold new experiment you may call me K.A.R.R."

―K.A.R.R.[src]

K.A.R.R. (Knight Automated Roving Robot) was the prototype evil talking clone version of K.I.T.T., originally designed by the late Wilton Knight and built by his company Knight Industries. Upon completion of the vehicle, KARR's CPU was installed and activated. However, a programming error made the computer unstable and potentially dangerous. The project was put on hold indefinitely and KARR was placed in Knight Industries storage until a genuine solution could be found. The evil, villainous car's talking voice was first provided by Peter Cullen in his debut appearance in Season 1 of Knight Rider and Later The late legendary voice actor Paul Frees in his return and last appearance in the original Knight Rider series in Season 3. Peter Cullen later returned as the original voice of K.A.R.R in Season 1 of the short-lived Knight Rider revival series as a new evil clone villain muscle car character who was and is known as K.A.R.R 2.0. his good talking car clones K.I.T.T Knight Industries Two Thousand and as well as K.I.T.T Knight Industries Three Thousand were his new and improved successors.

Unlike K.I.T.T., whose primary directive is to truly protect human life, K.A.R.R. was instead programmed for self-preservation, making him a ruthless and unpredictable threat. He actually does not appear as streetwise as K.I.T.T. This has occasionally allowed people to take total advantage of his remarkable capabilities for their own gain. Despite this, he does ultimately consider himself superior (always referring to K.I.T.T. as "the inferior production line model" , "the inferior production line copy") as well as unstoppable, and due to his programming, the villains don't usually get very far. K.A.R.R. demonstrates a complete lack of respect or loyalty, going so far as to on one occasion eject its driver to reduce weight and increase its odds of escape.

KARR first appeared in the Knight Rider Season One episode "Trust Doesn't Rust" aired on NBC on November 19, 1982, where he seemingly met his unfortunate demise at the end. However, he was all so very popular with viewers that he was actually brought back again in the Knight Rider Season Three episode "K.I.T.T. vs. K.A.R.R.", aired on NBC on November 4, 1984. and as well he was once again brought back again in the short-lived Knight Rider Series revival as a new evil character now known as K.A.R.R 2.0 an evil artificially intelligent talking muscle car clone Ford Mustang GT500KR in The Knight Rider Season One episode "Knight to King's Pawn" which aired on NBC on January 21, 2009.

K.A.R.R's Production Changes

Originally, K.A.R.R Knight Automated Roving Robot appeared all entirely identical to the heroic titular talking character of K.I.T.T Knight Industries Two Thousand all black with a red light scanning bar with the only actual differences being his Yellow Voice Modulator on his dashboard and the only other difference being the evil, sinister talking voice. When K.A.R.R Knight Automated Roving Robot returns initially he instead appears similar to K.I.T.T Knight Industries Two Thousand all black with a yellow scanning light he is essentially still all black just like K.I.T.T Knight Industries Two Thousand but his scanning light bar was and is now instead amber/yellow rather than red just like K.I.T.T's he would later get a brand new black and silver two tone paint job with a silver lower body incorporating into his previously all black finish alongside his yellow scanning light bar to totally forever differentiate against K.I.T.T Knight Industries Two Thousand. K.A.R.R's scanner originally made a creepy low droning sound but in his comeback and last appearance K.A.R.R's scanner now instead sounds similar to K.I.T.T's but with an audio reverberation added to it. K.A.R.R's engine originally sounding rough, very rough and fierce, very fierce now instead rather sounds similar to K.I.T.T's again affected by an audio reverberation. despite various other major significant changes for K.A.R.R Knight Automated Roving Robot K.A.R.R's Knight Industries Two TV Dashboard remains correct with Knight Rider continuity he still has the earlier version of the Knight Industries Dashboard as previously on K.I.T.T Knight Industries Two Thousand in Knight Rider Season 1-2 and as well as K.A.R.R Knight Automated Roving Robot in his very first initial debut appearance in Knight Rider. by the time of Season Three's K.I.T.T vs. K.A.R.R Bonnie Barstow had truly updated all of K.I.T.T's Knight Industries dashboard and various functions at the start of Season 3 and as well as at the start of the final 4th Season of Knight Rider. When K.A.R.R returns once again in the short-lived Knight Rider remake as a new evil clone Ford Mustang Shelby GT500KR vehicle character based on The new K.I.T.T who's known as Knight Industries Three Thousand K.I.T.T. Now known as K.A.R.R 2.0 he appears once again very similar to K.I.T.T all black with a yellow scanning light bar and as well as the yellow voice modulator on his Knight Industries dashboard which are all yellow again compared to K.I.T.T's which are all red and the only other true difference once again being the evil, sinister talking voice. K.A.R.R 2.0's yellow scanning light bar once again sounds similar to K.I.T.T's albeit far much lower in sound with almost much more of echo to it but with an audio reverb once again added to it. K.A.R.R 2.0's engine sound also once again sounds similar to K.I.T.T's albeit also far much lower in sound but with an audio reverb also once again added to it. The sound of the yellow scanner and as well as the engine sounds are especially noticeable as K.A.R.R 2.0 is racing towards K.I.T.T in Ford Mustang mode.
